Easter is just around the corner. You’re probably excited about the Easter egg hunts, delicious holiday food and other Easter festivities. Unfortunately, if you’re not careful, your smile can suffer the consequences. In fact, if you don’t take good care of your teeth and gums, you can experience dental problems. Our dentist, Dr. Ajey Varma, encourages you to keep your smile in mind this Easter and do your best to prevent dental issues. You can do so by doing the following things:
-Limit your candy consumption: This is important because candy can promote cavities. This is because it’s loaded with sugar. So, it’s best to limit your candy consumption by only eating one or two pieces and then saving the rest for another day. This can reduce your chances of having cavities.
-Wear a mouthguard: Some Easter egg hunts can be quite vicious. When you participate in this type of hunt, it’s best to wear a mouthguard so you can protect your smile and avoid knocked-out and broken teeth when you’re fighting with someone over a special Easter egg.
-Clean your smile: Brushing, flossing and rinsing can help you remove the harmful substances from your teeth and gums on Easter. This can help you avoid cavities as well as gum disease and other dental issues. So, make sure to brush in the morning and night and to floss and rinse at least once Easter day.
